Journal 

 

We started the week by writing about our weekend.  The children continue to be encouraged to write down as many sounds as they hear in their writing.  

 

2D Shapes  

 

2D Shapes were reviewed this week. The children were asked to draw their own home using 2D shapes. They were then asked to describe what shape they used for each part of their home ie: rectangle for the garage or front door. 

 

Thriller Flash Mob 

 

On Thursday morning,  the children were thrilled to participate in a School-Wide Thriller Flash Mob on the school field to celebrate Mrs. Jones.  PM Kindergarten children were able to show their Thriller Dance to Mrs. Jones in the afternoon.

Week at a Glance June 18

  June 18     Sending Kindergarten Materials Home- send a bag to school     Next week we will be sending home all Kindergarten work and indoor shoes.  Please send a bag to school with your child to assist them with bringing everything home.     Math     We continued our discussion of 3D shapes and their unique characteristics (sides, points, roll, don't roll).  We did an activity where students had to sort common objects but what 3D shape they are.     Every Child Matters     We continued our discussion about Every Child Matters but talking about what matters to us and drawing a picture of it in our journals.  Ask your child what matters to them.     Senses and Connection to the Land     We went outside this week and sat  in the garden and the field for a 'Sit Spot' Senses activity.  We talked about what we saw, heard, smelled, and touched.       Upcoming Dat...

Dot Day On Thursday it was International Dot Day. This day is inspired by Peter H. Reynold's book "The Dot" which celebrates creativity. All. grade 1/2 classes participated in a collaborative dot art project which you can see on display in the hallway on Thursday evening during the Open House.                                                   Math Patterns We continue to explore patterns.
