Week at a Glance

  October 23 Soft Entry/Labelling Belongings     Soft Entry is going well!  Students are becoming more independent with taking boots off on the mat and putting boots, coats, hats, and mittens where they belong .  Backpacks are staying in the classroom.  Please ensure that all of your child's belongings (boots, coats,  snowpants , mittens, hats  etc ) are labelled with their name to make them easier to find if they are misplaced.       Letter X     This week we focused on the letter  Xx . Ask your child what the action and sound is for the letter  Xx . (hint take a breath in, relax arms as you say the 'x' sound)      Action Songs     We have been doing actions to some songs/chants this week.  Ask your child to show you "Criss Cross Applesauce,  Eency  Weensy Spider, and If You're Happy and You Know It.         Halloween     As per our Halloween blog, if you are sending your child to school in their costume please ensure they leave the mask and glove part of the cost

Halloween

  LBS is planning  low-key Halloween  activities on Thursday October 29.      If children are planning to dress up at school, please discuss plans with them for:   a costume that is comfortable to wear all day: able to sit down, move around easily and complete school tasks throughout the day,   regular sanitizing and hand-washing, as usual,   using an AHS face mask, costumes with attached masks or other “Halloween masks” are not to be worn and are not suitable for preventing the spread of airborne droplets,   school-appropriate themes (no gore, weapons and so on),   no shared food to be brought to school.       Children are not required to wear costumes and may choose to wear orange and black. If your family does not participate in Halloween, there will be alternate tasks and activities provided.     Students will be looking at examples/non-examples of costumes in their classrooms.   Based on the weather, we may hold a costume parade outside.  Hello Families! Soft Entry   As you noticed this week in the mornings, we have begun soft entry. The children are asked to come in as soon as they arrive, remove their boots and then head to the classroom to engage in morning play with their table groups.      Pictures   Your child came home with a package of photo proofs- Oct. 14 (PM K's) and Oct. 15 (AM K's) D eadline for ordering is Oct. 23. If you missed Picture Day retakes will be on November 3. If you wish to have retakes, please send in your photo package on retake day.      Letter M   This week we focused on the letter Mm. The children chose two colors to create their own patterns in their workbooks. The also learned that the part of the pattern that repeats is called the 'core'.
