Week at a Glance

Soft Entry/Labelling Belongings
Soft Entry is going well! Students are becoming more independent with taking boots off on the mat and putting boots, coats, hats, and mittens where they belong. Backpacks are staying in the classroom. Please ensure that all of your child's belongings (boots, coats, snowpants, mittens, hats etc) are labelled with their name to make them easier to find if they are misplaced.
Letter X
This week we focused on the letter Xx. Ask your child what the action and sound is for the letter Xx. (hint take a breath in, relax arms as you say the 'x' sound)
Action Songs
We have been doing actions to some songs/chants this week. Ask your child to show you "Criss Cross Applesauce, Eency Weensy Spider, and If You're Happy and You Know It.
Halloween
As per our Halloween blog, if you are sending your child to school in their costume please ensure they leave the mask and glove part of the costume at home if their costume has it. They will still be required to wear their reusable/disposable mask as well as sanitize their hands as per our new 'normal'. Please also ensure they are able to independently use the washroom while wearing their costume.
Feelings
We have been talking about feelings. We have read 2 related books this week: Why Should I Share and Hurty Feelings. We identified different feelings and students gave personal examples. We colored a Feelings wheel which included the feelings-sad, scared, excited, happy, silly, calm, bored, and angry. We will use this wheel in the future if anyone is having difficulty expressing how they are feeling.
