 Hi Families,

Here is an explanation of what Student Led Conferences will look like next week. We look forward to seeing you and your child online!

What is a Student Led Conference?

Most of all, a Student Led Conference is a celebration of your child's learning.

This is an opportunity for your child to share class work with you and share their successes and areas for growth, in a conversation supported by adults you and me!

Virtual Student-Led Conferences are another thing that is new during this school year.

Here is a step-by-step guide to support all of us through the process.

As always, your flexibility and understanding is appreciated.

Before

Book a conference time with your child’s teacher

Ensure you have access to Microsoft  teams and let your child’s teacher know if you do not

View artifacts of learning provided on Google Classroom, alongside your child (our goal is to have work posted by March 6th)

Review the “During Student-Led Conferences” and “After Student-Led Conferences” steps

Prepare any questions you may have, here are a few ideas/prompts:

  • What would you like us to notice?

  • What is your favorite part?

  • What are you going to work on?

  • How could you make it better?

  • What are your next steps?

  • How did completing this work make you feel?

During

Log on to Microsoft Teams with your child, as this conference will be led by your child

You may be placed in the “Waiting Room” while you wait for the teacher to become available

Have artifacts of learning and provided guiding questions accessible

Your child may need “think-time” after being asked a question

After

Continue to celebrate your child’s learning and hard work this year!
