Letter Ee 

 

We worked on Letter Ee this week!   Ask your child what sound the letter E makes, and if they can come up with any words that begin with Ee. 

*The Starfall app is a great way to practice letters and sounds*

 

Pink Shirt Day 

 

On Pink Shirt Day we talked about Kindness.  We read the book Our Class is a Family by Shannon Olsen and discussed how we can show kindness in our classroom.  The pink hearts with our Kindness words were sent home on Wednesday. 

 

Math 

 

In Math, we extended our learning about more a less this week. We had the students choose a number and then  have them figure out what number  is 1 more or 1 less than their chosen number.  For example, if they chose the number 6, they would hopefully pick five as 1 less and 7 as one more. 

 

Hand sanitizer reminder-no scents 

 

A friendly reminder, that if you are sending your child with their own personal hand sanitizer, that we do request that it be unscented.  


Student Led Conferences

Dot Day On Thursday it was International Dot Day. This day is inspired by Peter H. Reynold's book "The Dot" which celebrates creativity. All. grade 1/2 classes participated in a collaborative dot art project which you can see on display in the hallway on Thursday evening during the Open House.                                                   Math Patterns We continue to explore patterns. Week at a Glance June 18

  June 18     Sending Kindergarten Materials Home- send a bag to school     Next week we will be sending home all Kindergarten work and indoor shoes.  Please send a bag to school with your child to assist them with bringing everything home.     Math     We continued our discussion of 3D shapes and their unique characteristics (sides, points, roll, don't roll).  We did an activity where students had to sort common objects but what 3D shape they are.     Every Child Matters     We continued our discussion about Every Child Matters but talking about what matters to us and drawing a picture of it in our journals.  Ask your child what matters to them.     Senses and Connection to the Land     We went outside this week and sat  in the garden and the field for a 'Sit Spot' Senses activity.  We talked about what we saw, heard, smelled, and touched.       Upcoming Dat...
