Numbers 5 and 6 

 

We worked on numbers 5 and 6 this week.  Ask your child what pictures they drew to represent numbers 5 and 6 

 

Letter B 

 

This week we focused on the letter Bb. Ask your child what pictures they drew in their workbooks that began with the letter B and if they challenged themselves to copy the word down too! 

 

Be Kind  

 

We read books about Kindness and talked about how to be a good friend on the playground.  We recorded our ideas in our journal.  Ask your child what their illustration was about. 

 

The Mitten 

 

We listened to a new version of The Mitten and talked about what was the same and different between the two versions. Ask your child if they can remember a similarity or difference between the two versions. 

 

Valentine's Day 

 

The last day of school before Valentine's Day will be Wednesday February 10.  We will do some in class activities to recognize the day.  There will be more information provided by the school, however due to Covid we will not be exchanging Valentines at LBS this year.

Dot Day On Thursday it was International Dot Day. This day is inspired by Peter H. Reynold's book "The Dot" which celebrates creativity. All. grade 1/2 classes participated in a collaborative dot art project which you can see on display in the hallway on Thursday evening during the Open House.                                                   Math Patterns We continue to explore patterns. Week at a Glance June 18

  June 18     Sending Kindergarten Materials Home- send a bag to school     Next week we will be sending home all Kindergarten work and indoor shoes.  Please send a bag to school with your child to assist them with bringing everything home.     Math     We continued our discussion of 3D shapes and their unique characteristics (sides, points, roll, don't roll).  We did an activity where students had to sort common objects but what 3D shape they are.     Every Child Matters     We continued our discussion about Every Child Matters but talking about what matters to us and drawing a picture of it in our journals.  Ask your child what matters to them.     Senses and Connection to the Land     We went outside this week and sat  in the garden and the field for a 'Sit Spot' Senses activity.  We talked about what we saw, heard, smelled, and touched.       Upcoming Dat...
