Week at a Glance

 Hi Families!

Letter U

This week we focused on the letter Uu this week and read Uncle Upton's story about being an upside down umpire! We learned the action for the letter Uu, point at the sky and say 'uh'. Ask your child what words we brainstormed that start with Uu.

Art

Our inspiration for art this week came from the story The Leaf Man. (which can be found online if you wish to see it and listen to a read aloud)  The children were able to take the leaves they were given and create a drawing of what they thought their leaf could be using their imagination.

Reading Response

This week we read Thankful for Thanksgiving. We then each shared, in front of our peers, what we were thankful for. Please ask your child what they said and continue the discussion as we will be revisiting what we are each thankful for next week to complete a journal entry!

Halloween
Everyone is keenly aware of the changes we have all had to make in our lives due to COVID-19. At school, we have been discussing how celebrations and events can continue in ways that fit within our current protocols. We recognize that many children and families love to share their creative talents through costumes and make up for Halloween. This year, we will include time to recognize Halloween in a low-key way:

  • simple costumes that can be comfortably worn all day,

  • no accessories,

  • no shared food,

  • adapted ways to share/parade.

Children are not required to wear costumes or may choose to wear orange and black. If your family does not participate in Halloween, there will be alternate tasks and activities provided.

Watch for more details in our classroom blog over the next few weeks.
