 Hello Families!

Soft Entry 

As you noticed this week in the mornings, we have begun soft entry. The children are asked to come in as soon as they arrive, remove their boots and then head to the classroom to engage in morning play with their table groups.  

 

Pictures 

Your child came home with a package of photo proofs- Oct. 14 (PM K's) and Oct. 15 (AM K's) Deadline for ordering is Oct. 23. If you missed Picture Day retakes will be on November 3. If you wish to have retakes, please send in your photo package on retake day.  

 

Letter M 

This week we focused on the letter Mm. Ask your child what the action and sound is for the letter Mm. (hint-magic mop)  

 

Math 

We continued to work on AB patterns using two colors today. The children chose two colors to create their own patterns in their workbooks. The also learned that the part of the pattern that repeats is called the 'core'. Ask your child about their pattern. 

 

Journal 

We reviewed what each of us is thankful for and then illustrated our thoughts in our Journals. Ask your child what they drew!

November 3-photo retake day

    Hi Ms. Romanko. Wondering about photo retakes for pm kindergarten. I think I recall seeing retakes would only occur in the am so hoping you can clarify the protocol for pm kids. Thanks!

Dot Day On Thursday it was International Dot Day. This day is inspired by Peter H. Reynold's book "The Dot" which celebrates creativity. All. grade 1/2 classes participated in a collaborative dot art project which you can see on display in the hallway on Thursday evening during the Open House.                                                   Math Patterns We continue to explore patterns. Week at a Glance June 18

  June 18     Sending Kindergarten Materials Home- send a bag to school     Next week we will be sending home all Kindergarten work and indoor shoes.  Please send a bag to school with your child to assist them with bringing everything home.     Math     We continued our discussion of 3D shapes and their unique characteristics (sides, points, roll, don't roll).  We did an activity where students had to sort common objects but what 3D shape they are.     Every Child Matters     We continued our discussion about Every Child Matters but talking about what matters to us and drawing a picture of it in our journals.  Ask your child what matters to them.     Senses and Connection to the Land     We went outside this week and sat  in the garden and the field for a 'Sit Spot' Senses activity.  We talked about what we saw, heard, smelled, and touched.       Upcoming Dat...
